  • Micropigmentation and Microblading
Many PMU services offered will use micropigmentation in the treatment. Micropigmentation is the use of a machine pen that distributes pigment into the surface of the skin in a pixelated form to create an appearance of density and color in the treatment area. Microblading is the use of a hand tool that manually inserts pigment into the skin with the use of a blade. This blade is created by a series of tiny needles bound securely together to create beautiful hairlike strokes in the brows. Blade sizes may vary dependent on your technician, I however use nano size blades as I love the fine stokes they create, and find them to be a staple in my tools to create your desired look.
  • Tattooing vs Permanent Makeup: What’s the difference?
Although both services include the use of a tattooing machine (machine pen), there is a difference. Microblading and Micropigmentation are techniques that implant pigment into the skin on a surface level. PMU (Permanent Makeup) is all done in the epidermis layer of the skin. So, while it is stated to be a “semipermanent” procedure, the pigments are still deposited into the skin, however, are more superficial, and subject to fading requiring a color boost for touch-up. Tattoos lay beneath the epidermis layer, and the pigment is deposited into the dermis layer. A machine pen is also used to implant the pigment, however at a depth that is just beneath the epidermis so as not to cause scar tissue or unnecessary added trauma to the skin.
